My name is Laila Labba and I am a Sámi artist and illustrator.
I completed my bachelor in Illustration at The University of Huddersfield in 2020, prior to that I studied at my local art school Kunstskolen i Karasjok for two years.
I draw traditionally and digitally, paint and do prints.
I am a member of Sámi Dáiddačehpiid Searvi (deputy boardmember), Tegnerforbundet, Norske billedkunstnere and Grafill.
My work is inspired by Sámi culture, nature and the absurdity of modern life.
Central to traditional Sámi essence is that it’s human’s job to protect and nurture nature, to not collect more resources than necessary and to always leave/give something back.
I wish to inspire this way of thought.
